How is it Dave's fault that you don't know how to copy and paste images?

Dave's fault that imgur embedding doesn't work.

As a 2011-2012 player I've been active through most of the memorable periods of this game, and for me personally the period between 2012/2013 - 2016 was peak AW, especially the period end2012/mid2013-2015.

During this time the game went through a lot of changes. The name Afterwind got changed into AtWar (ugh), a lot of new players started playing the game, this resulting in a lot, but I mean A LOT of new clans making the whole community explode. Because the game got shifted into like a new era, this meant that a lot of people wanted to help out within the community as much as they could, resulting in such things as the AtWar-Times Network thanks to Madara, the radio-channels and people hosting the radios, a lot of people coming up with creative things to uplift the game, the mechanics, the gameplay etc. (Un)fortunately this meant a shift in the gameplay as well, which had both its pros and cons.

During this period the map maker got introduced as well (somewhere end 2012/start of 2013), and I think thats where a lot of new players came to the game as well, giving us a very creative and fun games/maps, such as the King of the Hill-hype from Freeland (and Tunder/Ezzatam as well I think) that started somewhere in 2013, which in my opinion was one of the most fun periods I've had on this game. We saw other players like avatar and Tik-tok creating maps/scenarios that got played literally everyday. Not a day went by without seeing at least one WWII/WWI and some Ancient world games. Unfortunately I saw my favourite map: World Map, decreasing in popularity, but still a lot of people from the core playerbase hosted them from time to time, resulting in neverending games that could take up 50 to 100 turns.

The silverlight/html5 crossover is what led to a lot of players leaving the game, they didn't feel like the game felt like it did before. In my opinion, somewhere in 2014/2015 the game hit its peak and from there on it took a little bit of a nosedive, however, not as bad as the last 3/5 years. But the unsportmanslike things that people got accustomed to, such as the wf's, bigwalls, rewallls, bypassing walls, everything to like gain the advantage, is what in my opinion killed the whole 'fun-vibe' of this game.

Which is basically something I've noticed happened to a lot of games during the last 10 years or so, where sweaties just changed the whole vibe of a game..

I feel this. Peak AW was my favorite MMO game ever. I loved playing in all of the big scenarios with all of the players that were on back then.

Peak atwar 2014-2016

There were so many people on, so much of our own culture then. The crowds who were always playing scenarios like ancient world, UN and GoT Political. I wish there was a way to get people to play this game again, it was awesome back in those days.

Put it to sleep.
Inject the anesthesia and lay it to rest.
The game is done.
The friends we made are gone
The memories will live on though.
RIP AtWar

It is truly sad that it has come to this.

It could've been my contribution to the world. An intricately balanced and geopolitically complicated, yet intuitive and enjoyable scenario to play. Modeled after the works of Pyrrhus, Aetius, and Dire... But alas, it cannot be done because the map editor doesn't work and D*ve doesn't want to fix anything... well...

I always said this: I believe that people change. People can sometimes see that they fucked up, and correct it. I believe Dave can change mistakes he did in the past.

As for profits, it is a very tough spot indeed, but you can increase activity by just unbanning people, its a no brainer to atleast start from that and give it a shot.

Yesterday you couldn't make games for 10 hours, no one could play because the server would not allow you to fucking make games. Something needs to change, either Dave starts careing about the game again or he sells it, not much else to see to it. And, if Dave wants to care about the game again, maybe he can start by unbanning some people who were critical of him, because after all atWar is a business and having people banned in a game that is every day more inactive is pointless.

I guess it is a bit difficult for him to start caring now since the game is already in a position where its doubtful if it can even make profits anymore. No one is trying to deny the decline that's been happening, but it doesn't help when the community is small, and you start often getting permanently rid of people you dislike. He should've at least tried to show some understanding after all this time gone by, and unbanned the people, not because of "reasons or benefits" to have them back" - but rather due to the time difference. At least that.

This continued display of ego over time, from the position of a person holding admin powers, has simply begun to justify all those posts and complaints. If Dave had handled it better, none of this would've happened. You cannot put all the blame on the players, some players may and will have egos, but as an owner - he should know better, and that's where he messed up. I've never been a person excessively demanding for constant updates or feature additions to the game, I've played this game for what it was, even with all the bugs, but this treatment toward some ppl during the timespan of years, while having little to show for it, was simply messed up, and honestly one big waste of time. Just let it go, been years.... don't waste people's time, because they have 0 problems with each other, it's just you (Dave) being the big baby here.

Expected Behavior:
When units are set to be excluded from certain countries they will in fact be excluded from those countries.

Actual Behavior:
When editing a map of mine and adding in new unit types, I ran into some issue where setting units to be excluded from specific countries made them become only availible in those countries.

Steps To Reproduce The Behavior:
I've gone back into the editor and tried, actually, to NOT reproduce the behavior. But it seems to be persistent. Additionally, units from the same map that were properly excluded from specific countries are now - in game - availible to all countries including the ones they're listed as excluded from.

For example, in my 1800's scenario, the French are supposed to be able to produce an advanced form of Cavalry, and thus the default Cavalry unit is excluded from the French 'countries.' This has worked just fine in my game for years. But after today, when trying to exclude some new units from specific countries, the Cavalry (which were not even touched) thereafter became availible to French 'countries' as well despite being excluded from them on the unit's info sheet. And I can't seem to be able to undo that.
