It is kinda annoying when you see something like this

The guy commenting says:
You are in Greece so you can't talk about a country who is raising you bastard.And what is shown in picture isn't true at all.

All this started from a clearly sarcastic picture in a sarcastic group.

Albanians take everything in a racist way and immediately start calling names and say ''i fuck your mother and your life''....

Its sickening how Greeks also fall into that pile of shit posts and make it even worse,the worst though is when Albanians start to swear on Greece and talk about their big history which they don't have.

This is a topic just to discuss not an attack to albanians.

Living in the Balkans, man... I hate it too.

Most of the times its what you wrote there,albanians imo do it mostly caus ethey have the need to show that they are above us and Serbs.

The difference is is that nationalism doesn't try to prove anything its an ideology. Another thing is that you can still be a shitty country and still feel nationalistic, all it truly is is having self-confidence and pride in your country. Also in my opinion its a pretty bad analogy to make since religions can vary on how much science or spiritual things that are apart of it. Take some sort of odd tribalistic religion and then look at the modern protestant, you can easily see the difference in what is believed vs what is proven

Well as about ''megali idea'' and ''greater albania'' which are the same only thing i have to say is that as i have understood albanians want more ground from greece to become bigger and they try to accomplish that even if they know it will never happen.They keep talking about great albania bcz they are out of ideas for their country and need to show off(for smth they havent done lol).

They usually mention in an arguement between a greek and an albanian about history.

Make the eagle NATO colors and draw albania as a lil rat behind it taking cover if you want to make it historicaly accurate.

so, nationalism all about glorifying a geographical construct ruled by a central power, very rational. what adds up to that is, what you said, that it doesnt matter how big or small, how rich or poor your country is, to a nationalist, its always the best motherfuckin country in the world, just like his own religion is always the true one to a religious person.

now, to me, there isnt much difference between a little (monotheistic) tribalistic religion and modern protestanism. in both, magic sky man made the world, loves everyone and yet pious people die of illnesses and cancer every day. plus, isnt this a little out of context? we are comparing religion and nationalism, concepts, not different religions, parts of concepts.

the thing i just didnt mention yet is: religions (spirituality) and nationalism/patriotism activate the exact same parts of the brain and cause very similar reactions. both, evolutionairy are consequences of the need of peoples to find something that defines your own people and the others. also, religion and nationalism benefits mental stability, it simplifies life, it paints things white and black, wich makes life so much easier to comprehend and live.

history, funny. there is a religion, that the universe, was made last thursday, your memories and the world around you were made then. nobody believes in it, but you couldnt prove me wrong if i was to, could you? the same applies to the relevance of history. no matter what happend before, should it influence the decisions you do now? if two countries have been at war for 2000 years, should they continue to fight, just because they always were at war?

Nation States are not imaginary, they aren't just "there" because some one with a nice hat said said so. Ethnic States -which are nationalistic- are created when a Tribe makes the leap forward from city state to kingdom/empire such as Rome or any of the Greek city-states.

It doesn't have to be ruled by a central power unless is civic nationalism (like austria-hungary). What people mean by "nationalism" is actually ethnic-nationalism, in other words: caring about your Tribe first. People that aren't in your tribe are outsiders and will always be outsiders until they integrate into the tribe either by marriage or duty (such as military service).

You seem to be confusing propaganda with nationalism. Nationalism is about putting your country in a position where is better than all the others.

a Patriotic person is not always ethnic-nationalist, while most ethnic-nationalists are patriotic if they aren't in diaspora.
