So to make the game fair to player of different levels you can make the game have no strategies or upgrades, right? Well that is a really good idea, but (I think ) less fun. What if there was an option to drop all players upgrades to the lowest common denominator?

For example: 3 people playing. All have GW unlocked. So everyone can use it in game. BUT only 2 have helicopters, so no one can use them.

Make sense?

No support, it makes it really unbalanced, people will be playing strats and upgrades they are not used to and not their style. Just use the rank limit to limit upgrades, they will all have same amount of SP and therefore same amount of SP to spend on upgrades.

I very enthusiastically support this idea! It's actually my favorite idea to date. This option would make for fair games, without having to resort to a kind of "vanilla" no strats / no upgrades mode.

To address this, what could be done instead is to have everyone play the game as if they had the same SP as the lowest SP player. 2 ways I see to adjust upgrades of the higher SP players:
1) Lose most recent upgrades 1st: subtract SP automatically removing upgrades starting with the most recently purchased.
2) Temporary reset: players would re-purchase upgrades for that game only using the available SP.

I think this might be a bit complicated, but it would be a really great addition to the game. Especially to improve retention of new players.

We have actually implemented an option to turn off strategies and/or upgrades a few weeks ago.

Yes, but that option is too limited, i mean its basically, play with upgrades-strategies or playing without upgrades-strategies.
I would be much better being able to turn off the strategies and upgrades that you want.
Basically you could turn off upgrades that improve stats with turning off unlockable units like marines, stealths...

Also, i have Hybid warfare and at the moment a big waste of sp.

This is just anti-high rank propaganda and hypocrite form part of the people that said things like "rank dosn't matter" , i level up to have upgrades not to be restricted by other people limitations, i would rather have the begginers lobby raised to level 5, and make it impossible for ranks 0-4 to make games in main lobby, i hate to see games for ranks 0-4 in main.....

The upgrades make a drastic difference all-around. Limiting them? I'm for removing them all together (In-game store like Dota 2 is infinitely better for balancing), but at the moment, limiting them does not help.

Yes, but the suggestion is different from this. The idea is not to lose upgrades entirely. Instead, everyone would be "leveled down" to the lowest common denominator. Don't get me wrong, no upgrades/strats is a great addition! It does limits the gameplay though. This would provide a more interesting option.

I don't think of this as a way to lessen the work done by higher rank players. It's more of a compromise between upgrades/strats completely ON or OFF.

Yes, that's it! It's also a solution to a problem many players - including high ranks - are complaining about!

Current problem: Players complain not enough people are not joining 3v3, 1v1, EU+ or scenarios.

Cause: Players avoid playing against other players when rank difference is too big. No strats & upgrades is one solution, but it is used only occasionally. Probably because it limits gameplay too much.

Proposed solution: The game option proposed in this thread offers a way to level the playing field without restricting gameplay. Yay!

I still think this is a good idea. No upgrades and no strategies is good to put everyone at an even level (yet lowest), but allowing everyone to use their upgrades if each player in the game had it unlocked would allow for an even playing field while still allowing upgrades.

To clarify, if you--and everyone else--hadn't unlocked a unit, no one could use it. So if everyone unlocked Ground Special Defence, then everyone would get to use it. You would be used to playing with those options because you would have already unlocked it.
