To prevent leavers we should do something similar to the rep system. If you leave enough games you receive a leaver label. For each game you complete you get -2 leaver points. Each that you leave in the first 5 turns gives you +1 leaver points. Simple and fair.

I like the idea, but shouldn't the points be the other way around to create more incentive to not leave in the first 5 turns.

Nope won't work. Somebody leaves in a scenario and ruins the game will make everybody else leave as well. Therefore everybody gets the same amount of rep for leaving as the original troll who left. If anything, this will be more of an incentive to troll because if you leave and ruin the game, you have to make everybody else wait around for 5 turns so their rep is protected.

If you're going to not approve then why not suggest a better idea eitheer way..... first person to leave gets 10 points, the next person 9, and so on. And when you reach a sertain number like 100 you (and your alts Tophats) can be banned on the acount of game trolling.

It's not like I said "Stupid idea, I don't approve." I went into detail as to why it wouldn't work. No matter what form you put it in, a leaver rep will not work. Since leavers only affects scenarios were every player is vital to the game, UN and WWI/WWII would be the only scenarios to benefit from this. Besides we already have an unwritten system. You leave, you're enemy listed, and you're kicked from playing any other game. This system has been working good IMO.

This doesn't work as best as possible for these few reasons: a.) Player had legitimate reason to leave. b.) It's a rep system... when was the last time you relied on reputation to choose decent allies in game lol? c.) Can be farmed, given the provision that leaving after 5 turns results in positive rep. As a result of these reasons, it really won't solve the problem at hand. I agree with fockmeeard, the whole enemy listing thing is working fine. We just need to encourage more communication between game hosts. Make sure people get the memo when possible (don't outright spam or attack the person in question- we simply need to keep them at bay.)

This system works somewhat, but only somewhat. The leaver is always the person who is not yet on your enemy list, I have a list of leavers almost 40 players long. Also they won't really care, I mean who cares if you are on someones enemy list xaxa lel huehue. But if you have a reputation system people will be a lot more hesitant to just leave on a whim, everyone will know they are leavers which will begin to seriously curb leaving unlike random people enemy listing them. Moreover, new people will see right away that leaving is something you don't do, because it is on their profile. Now if someone REALLY has to go, lets say your house is on fire, you aren't going give a single crap about your atwar LR system. Thing is most people don't really have to go when they leave, they just say "meh" and leave without a single thought for anyone else. These people should pay for wasting everyone's time. It is also a major complaint by the new players and why atwar has difficulty retaining players since leavers ruin it. Would be wise for the admins to focus on this issue

29.09.2013 - 16:06 Here's a simple way to address the problem: Once the game host leaves, everyone else is free to leave without getting a penalty. That way, only the troll is penalized. I'd support with this modification included in your suggestion. This or another viable solution.

Not really a rep system, but there's now a 'games abandoned' percentage in user profiles. Hopefully it would add some incentive to stay/surrender.

01.10.2013 - 14:21 That's a really great change! Perhaps, you could add a condition where, when the host abandons, everyone else gets to abandon without it being counted?
