This guy changed conditions to capture the city next to his in the last second before starting. Even admitted it afterwards and was very proud of it. No chance to avoid this unless you know beforehands this guy cheats. Please remove his duel wins and or ban this guy. Nice stalking Eagles Back on the topic, I guess it's not cheating, since the winning conditions are still visible even while picking countries. It's a jerky move (I would like to rape his ass too), but you can't do much about it. Maybe add that bastard in enemy list and try to fuck him up in another duel or something, that's all you can. PS. If this gonna help you, I had same moments. Not even once and I made rage threads searching for a duel removal, nothing helped. I needed to face the same shitty truth.

Thx Croat, i was lucky he was giving himself in in chat, so it could be removed by a mod. What I still wonder is how often he did that to narbs and got away with it. I hate people who ruin this game! Bastard!

Funny, because I beat him in a Europe 10k game and afterwards he challenged me to a duel. I would've joined the duel but I guess you beat me to it.

From what I've heard though, it's not the first time he was caught for farming... His elo is ridiculously high and a check of his profile shows duels against rank 4s and 3s and even 2s.

not that im on his side but why reduce his SP? this was a elo issue not SP why not reduce his elo? and again im not on his side but the admin have made it very clear that they do not consider this cheating and have allowed it.. there is nothing in the rules against it either...and it Does say in huge blue letters while picking your country so just because the game has started you still have the choice to leave instead of picking..... anyways im just saying all this because if you are going to punish some one like this then you should punish the others that have done it as well....

Just removing the duel + taking away the SP he earned in this particular match should have been enough.

The 2 of you please look at his game history first. The last 30+ games have all been played in beginners against rank 2s and 3s and 4s with him earning 200+ SP each game. His duels are all against low ranks. He's already been caught once for elo farming, now he's also been caught for SP farming. He has 1300+ elo. He was a rank 0 when I was rank 6 and he jumped to rank 7 in just 2 months. Not impossible but does suggest farming. Do not criticize just for the sake of criticizing without checking to see you have the facts straight. I agree that his elo should be taken away. I disagree that taking his SP was harsh. Considering prior offenses, trollface was pretty lenient. More so if you factor in that rank 7s cannot even spectate games in beginners let alone play, and he somehow was... (*cough*hacks*cough*)

Darth, check his registration date and check yours. I know him briefly from last year when I played random Europe games, he was around rank 4 or 5 so either you're mistaking him or... Since he's already punished I don't see point to argue about this.

As much as I appreciated when they (finally) got rid of mid-game duels, I still cant make sense of having this capture neutral feature for duels especially. I dare anyone to give me an example of a legit duel using capture neutral... So Just fucking get rid of the possibility and stop giving tools to trolls, cause u know... trolls gonna troll

Troll face was very nice, iv sp farmed before as a low rank and back then they took all the sp you farmed + 50% of the total amount farmed.

This was covered in depth in an earlier post. It isn't considered cheating as it is a legitimate game mechanic. Is it wrong to do? It's up to that player to decide, but is it considered cheating, or a offense deserving of a ban? No, it is not. It sucks when it happens, but it teaches you to check the game settings of a game that you are not the host of. Cheers

I think this feature can be very useful for very diverse games. i played a few games in my tenure here where the settings were set to capture and hold a random country. it was a 4 person FFA game. It wasn't the normal competitive style game, it was a more relaxed game mode, where walls and chaining units were set as priority to win.

Edit; this player was actually banned and had his sp reduced for using a legitimate in game feature? How terrible!! This was definitely not a bannable offense. Admins should look into the moderator that issued such a punishment.

Nooo.... Kumar used a legitimate if shitty loophole and got away. Another guy called Rien a Dire was banned for farming. Pls read properly and do your research before commenting on how terrible it was and how Hitler-y the mods and admins are... (and this applies to Laozi too) Personally I like how mods are called lenient and not doing their jobs in threads, and then as soon as they actually ban someone, they become cancerous dictators...

"Kumar used a legitimate... and got away" So let's ban him, right? I know exactly what he did, and how he did it. I've had this discussion with many players, so please don't act as if I do not know what I am talking about. Now back on topic.. The player in question used a legitimate game feature that is available for all players in every aspect of the game. It is not the fault of the game host as he has every right to change his own game settings. It is the job of the player who joins that game to read the settings so he knows what the victory conditions are. If you join a game, and the host starts immediately, you still have ample amount of time to check the settings before picking a country. If you do not agree with the game settings, you have the option to confront the game host, or to leave all together..

Edit: in your post you said, "there is no chance to avoid this.. unless you know beforehand that he does this" (slightly paraphrased). Of course you can know before hand.. It takes a few seconds to check the game settings, once before the game has started, and once before you do you country selection. Edit again: I do not think that we would be having this discussion if this happened with game time limit. If a player joins a game, and doesn't read the turn time limit and is caught off guard by 1 minute turns, instead of the standard 4 minute turns, should the game host receive a ban for altering game settings for his benefit? NO, because A: he has every right to change his game mode settings, and B, the player who joins is an idiot for not checking the game settings of the game he joined

Perhaps because you are so use to the norm on atwar..? Or you just can't see yourself playing a duel like that? i think the same could be said for clovis' famous no expansion duels, or the famous malta/cyprus duels. These game modes were invented by players, and they offered variety and strategy in the gameplay. Admins implemented the game feature in question for variety. So that all vanilla gameplay won't get stale after long periods of time. Now am I saying this feature should stay in duel modes? We haven't got that far in our discussion. I am just saying that he used a legitimate feature in game. He did not deserve a ban, and an sp reduction. If players are upset with the feature they can speak with mods, and mods can then discuss the feature with the game admins.
