Many at war's players already are pretty annoyed of the machines and the tb system that gives skills nearly no part of game playing and we has been pointing this out for the last 2years repeatedly but nothing happens... i said it million time and will say it again. a game that depends on luck will always suck and make people rage after games cause people that plays like rushing dumbs win against them because of some 1unit tb on each city and full on cap.... even worse people started to take this as a tactic and depend on luck and cap stacking each single game and that has really tired me and many other peoples and caused me to quit competitive playing instead of getting annoyed after each single game.... make this game place for pros not for luck depends and dont say we want realistic shits because we are in a game after all so please make this change... thanks for reading

Lets be fair, skill still is 90% of the game, just because there is a little luck involved in some moves doesnt mean that its only about luck

Are you guys seriously arguing that this game is all luck? If that were the case, I don't think there would be such a large and noticeable skill gap between different ranks and tiers of players. If this game were all luck, we would see rank 5s and 6s beating high ranks all the time. However, this game (set aside RP and some other cases) requires quite a bit of practice and strategizing to be successful. Of course, luck comes into play (though not as much as people make it seem imo), but the key is to strategize around the luck (give yourself the highest chance of success).

I agree with the riddler, luck is a factor only when skills are somehow comparable. It is true however that sometimes really fucked up things happen and negate that impression. I have an example where I won a double rush with GW 6 inf 1 marine 1 bomber + general vs RA 5 tanks 5 inf + general... that kind of stuff shouldnt happen...

sorry but i have to say stfu and i already pointed out this by saying(nah its a luck game with "skills" to use this luck) also i never play with noobs and kick them from my games so its always balanced skills games so i wouldn't matter admins are basing on the thingy of.. quantity>quality and thats a big fault cause many players with out quality wouldn't buy premium and i wouldn't like to support a community doesn't care about me thats all i can say :/

The game is definitely not all luck, you need skill to properly balance expansion, defence, and attack. You need skill to know when and where to attack and many other things that do not involve luck. However, I definitely agree that what you say is true when it comes to rushing and tbs, but those are pretty much the only cases in which it is true, and like you and I both said it still requires skill to use this luck to your highest possible advantage and give yourself the highest chance of success. Furthermore, I think that this luck factor adds to the game to some extent because it is then necessary to prepare for the unexpected, although many people would disagree that this is a good thing.
I assume you are referring to how the admins have not changed the tb or roll system. If that is what you are talking about, I don't think that this is the case at all. I think that recreating the tb or roll system would be a huge job and could ultimately unbalance the game, so the admins have to be very careful how they do it. Furthermore, before they can change the tb and roll system, they need an alternative that is widely supported by the community. If you really want a change, I would suggest getting in direct communication with ivan and amok to discuss changing the system, and then if you come to an agreement on how the tb system should be changed, suggest it to the community and see what they think.
PS: I think that was the politest way anyone has told me to stfu

3 years later and the same people are still crying about unlucky rolls and tb as an excuse for just playing badly. If you want to play a game with no luck involved I suggest online chess.

There is something to this whole luck factor thing. But yea a lot of ppl who claim they are cursed and this game is all about tbs and luck are usually just victims of bad gameplay rather than anything else. Or they are just extremely vocal about their bad luck and never mention the good. All of us experience bad rolls and unlucky tbs to some extent. If you get tb'd you should ask yourself " could i have prevented that". Either through correct move priorities or just walling the key location. Sometimes luck is just against you. Ive had 40 unit stacks get tb'd by 1 but i also have done it to others. As a high rank you just learn to take it in your stride. Personally i might rage a bit when it happens in high stakes games. As i said in my thread i would like to see roll variance reduced and lotto tbs removed. Goblin has made the suggestion before in regards tbs. But look at the end of the day, the admins have a huge todolist. I dont see us convincing them to make any changes in that area of the game anytime soon. From what amok said the roll mechanics are complex and it works so hes not too keen to go messing around with it. There might be hope with the tb situation though.

I ask for removing lucks to prove that i dont cry because i play badly but for shitty luck and cheap tricks as i had won only 30% since people started to depend on luck and shits and new company of players came to this game(krator/solider/steve/besrock(rip)jefreder/ferlucci/zone blalla) and i will repoint out this

I'm sure all of us feel like they have had horrendous luck at times, but the reality is that it's just a combination of of a couple of flaws in the cognitive reasoning of humans: Self-serving bias and Confirmation bias. Self-serving bias means we attribute our success to our own actions but our failures to actions out of our control. This means that when we have bad luck at rolls, we blame the rolls, but if we have good luck with rolls we say it's because we were good. That means you don't notice the times you have good luck nearly as much as the times you have bad luck. Confirmation bias is where we tend to take in information that agrees with what we believe, and we tend to ignore or try and find flaws in information that contradicts our beliefs (For a working example of this see the off-topic form c.2014). In practice this means that if we believe we have bad luck, we start to see bad luck in every move we make, while ignoring any good luck we receive. Then we say "why do I always have bad luck?", because we ignored the good. The game isn't decided any more on luck than it was in 2013, just the strategy of the players has changed, and old players like me haven't changed with it (still can't believe that gw is considered a legit strat at the moment). The way to have better luck is simply to believe that it is possible. We've all had moments like syrian has described, and a logical extension of that is that someone must have experienced very good luck at the time we experienced bad luck. It's just that they didn't notice it.

You disgust me... Also I think the game is fine the way it is in regards to "luck" even though it seems more often then not I get tbed a lot and some pretty odd things happen in the battles, though it doesn't always work against me. Nor does it always work against any of you so in the regard it does indeed balance itself out.

The game is fine. Luck is one thing, probability is another. If you calculate your probabilities properly you should be fine. I know this is about fucked up rolls. Perhaps they can change the roll variable to be a base+random 0-3 or something like that. Wouldn't unbalance the game, would just stop 11/9s NC warships from rolling 1s.

Rolls happen, that's all there really is to say. I've won some battles I shouldn't have by a gen, and lost some I shouldn't have. Usually balances out in the end.

Not sure what Goblin suggested, but how about incorporating Dota2's pseudo-random distribution for TBs? (link for reference) Something like this has more chances of being predictable, but still carries the fundamental basis of luck. Any good meta-gamer will be able to use this to their advantage which could be an additional parameter to skill.
