Duel season situation (constructive critique)

Since there are so many worries about myself only, let's do a brief review of the dueling scene situation with the aim of actually contributing with something constructive:

The leaderboard:



This is what we have at the moment:

- Njab: quite good player, nothing really important to mention because he does same as everyone here does. He duels whoever joins his duels, no matter if it is a rank 3 - 15.

- Xcolo, Flume, Don: strong players, strong duelist. They will duel whoever joins their duel. If you take a look at their duel history, they have dueled very good players and have an amazing record.

- Franz: rank 6, farming low ranks in beginners... I probably don't need to mention that he does not have the skill level any of us does.

- Manhunter: alt, lost his main long time ago, came back to the game after long time inactive.

- Comedian RaulPB: I lowered my sp in order to do some justice and duel dmx, a guy who is in the learderboard by dueling lower ranks than him. Any other solution on your mind? I am not farming any different from what Njab might be doing. I even have a rank 5/6 limit in my duels but I won't be waiting for any high rank to join my duels, I'll play whoever joins it.

- ArronNaik: a rank 3 account... a guy that has come back after some time and forgot the username he used to have (he was rank 5/6). He is more skilled than a normal rank 3 and is willing to improve even further, hence we dueled (no upgrades) and I taught him a couple things as well. He can vouch for that. Still, he shouldn't be where he is by just farming low ranks.

- Dmx: Rank 9 which always has rank 9 limit for duels and plays low skilled players. Any minimum skilled high rank would be able to beat him easily.

- Aqollo: Former rank 10. Now in another account, which is r8. Fine player, topic already discussed, we moved on.

- Gow: another high rank player.

- Canchito: go canchito goooo!!!! I dare anyone say anything mean about this cute but devastating rank 7.

Let's go to the constructive part of this thread:

Imo, seasonal elo has been a great implementation. But as everything else, it has flaws. What can we see this/last/whatever season which can be considered unfair or not representative of a competitive spirit?

- Low ranks dueling in beginners room.
- Middle or High ranks abusing the rank limit feature.
- High ranks playing against low ranks.
- Alts farming noobs.
- Elo gambling or elo gifting.

Now comes the proposal time

What can we possibly do to remove this issues that afect the competitive aspects of this game? I have listed the problems I think we have with several solutions, each one being alternative of the others.

- Low ranks dueling in beginners room.

• Disable duels for low ranks (1-4/5 shouldn't be able to duel).
  
• Create an independent league for low ranks.
  
• Remove beginners' room and implement a rank limit on games made by low ranks so they can have fun without high ranks joining their games.
  
• Set elo limits instead of rank limits for duels.
  

- High ranks abusing the rank limit feature.

• Remove rank limit feature for duels, where it simply doesn't make much sense.
  
• Implement a minimum interval of ranks where you must duel. For example, +/- 3/ ranks.
  
• Set elo limits instead of rank limits for duels.
  

- High ranks playing against low ranks.

• Disable duels for low ranks (1-4/5 shouldn't be able to duel).
  
• Create an independent league for low ranks.
  
• Set elo limits instead of rank limits for duels.
  

- Alts farming noobs.

• Removing them from the elo competition once spotted.
  
• Disable them from making duels?
  
• Not granting medals.
  

- Elo gambling or elo gifting.

• Punishment when noticed: removal of elo or removal from the competition.

Any thoughts, opinions or whatever you feel saying? Just don't flame pls. This isn't a place to accuse, rather to find solutions...

I read all you've said, and sadly I wonder if you made this thread to just justify the reason you lowered your rank and bashing on EC members?

I mean don't get me wrong, I only like few to none players from EC, but this isn't the way to deal with rivalry.


And to your proposals, I strongly disagree with most of them. Here comes why:

First of all, and I think the most important of all is the enabling dueling for rank -4/5. I wonder what makes you think a rank 4 of 5 is not capable of dueling? I started dueling when I was rank 3 or 2, and it was because of the feature of dueling in-game, it gave a new twist to the game you were already in, even if you were going to lose, it made you stay in the game and fight till the end! I think it was a big mistake to delete it, this thread as a result of it. Removing beginners room would be a big loss for AW. Especially when a gentle and new community from the beginnersroom merge with the cruel and selfish-status/attention-seeking community from the main lobby. A community that is not quiet a good example a community should be for new players.

Implenting rank limit to every game a rank -4/5 makes is a bad idea also, lower ranks should be able to play higher ranks whenever they want, in my opinion they learn the most from them, atleast they used to, since most of the high ranks now are just rank 5/6's skillbased. Implenting rank limit will also destroy the option to play with a friend of yours, to bring him to AW and teach him all you know. Since he needs to be rank 5+ to play a game with his friend, and believe me when you are new to this game and dont know anyone but 1 friend and you are not able to play with him, you wont like the game that long to actually reach rank 5.

By limiting the ranks you can play as a high rank you make it impossible for the high ranks at this moment to play with players on their same skilllevel. Because like I said most of the high ranks now are just playing so much scenarios that they rank up so hard and when they become rank 10 or 11, they see that they are not as good as standard rank 10's or 11's should be and want to get back to their lower rank. I think it should be banned to actually lower the SP of people that ask for it, sorry Sun but yes, I am reffering to you. Because you should live with the consequences of SP farming or gaining so much SP and being outskilled by anyone on your rank.

And if you are going to say that it is impossible to stay low rank, that is not true since there are alot of people the same rank for years, or only 1 higher. Like myself for example.

And if people really feel the need of farming lowerranks so they can be in the top 12 of duellist or want to win the clanwars, you shouldn't and you can't do much about it. The trophies or the prices lose their meaning if you dont get it for actually fighting for it, and I think everyone in the community knows about it.


Then afterall, this is not the kind of threads I expected from you Raul.

I mostly agree with Waffel on his views. Rank doesn't matter at all if you are playing like R5 or R6. Personally, I was playing everybody in duels since I was R7 and I still didn't stop, I don't care if you are R20 or R3. You joined the duel and that's it. If R4s, R5s and R6s want to duel, let them duel and learn. I met the most of EC's newbies in duels, because I saw they play well, and I noticed it when they were R4 or R5. If majority of the community wants to low ranks not be able to duel, then don't allow them to duel, that's it. The only issue I see here is beginners lobby existing for R5 and R6. R5 is the perfect rank to step up and improve, not to play RP and stagnate.

Also, I agree that Dragon doing rank 0-9 duels isn't nice, I told him that too. However, we all know that even if you farm low ranks the whole season, you won't get to top either because there are guys who are doing way better, or because mods don't want you on top with so many low rank duels.

Now let me explain the difference between you and Aqollo. Aqollo is not alt, but original account and he has R8 upgrades, he personally told me he will never ask mods to give him R10 SP for upgrades. On the other hand, you have lowered your rank to 8 and kept all your upgrades. Imagine me going to R5 with R11 upgrades and beating newbies all the day? Is that nice? No, it isn't. Stop it. Sun, you should realize you've done such a horrible move by letting this disease called rank lowering spread.

Well I tought DMX was EC member, saying aqollo farms etc D:. Maybe I overreacted with the bashing but It felt like it was a bit more towards EC than the rest tho. But thats just my opinion

Np at all. Then read the next possible alternative, which would be creating a separate league for low ranks. Would that alternative please you more? I am not stating which would be the best alternative at any moment, simply listing problems and possible solutions bro. I am listening in case anyone had a better one and I'll list it too. I'm here to discuss not to confirm anything.

(Although according to your words, we should probably remove main room instead of beginners! )

If you continue talking about the same rank limit implementation (in case beginners room would be shut down), this would only affect games made by those same low ranks (0-3/4/5... which ever you prefer).

Btw, there's no need to refer to Sun in this case........ I didnt lower my rank cause I felt like a bad rank 10 (btw, are you actually calling me bad player??).... I've already stated my reason and won't go back to that...

RB, u are 2 seasons late, we raised all these issues already 2 seasons ago (with some limited success such as removal of ın game duels)
I m glad u became active this season though, the more duellers the better

R8 should have R8 upgrades, simple as that. Making admins waste time on changing ranks and upgrades is awful, and if it's already allowed then it should be an automatic option. Do you realize it breaks the whole purpose of AtWar, where you are supposed to play and get upgrades as you rank up? Seriously...

Also, one of my old suggestions was to disallow neutral country capture and rank limited duels, but nobody listened. Rank limit should be +2 to your rank at least, if you ask me.

The problem njab has with you Paul is that you keep your upgrades while deranked.
And that you're saying that you are equal to me.

I don't have my upgrades and lost a lot of upgrades switching account. Njab is trying to say that you however keep your upgrades while posing as a r8.

I am not saying he is farming (actually I tried to confirm that no one, including me, considers him to farm). That was a reference to what njab told me in the other thread: "Lowering your rank on request is what admins should never do. Simple as that. I don't see any real reason why Cold Case and Compedian RaulPB should have that privilege, as well as any other player. If your rank goes lower, newbies will duel you more often therefore it increases the elo farming. On top of that, they keep all the upgrades and can go back to their rank whenever they want."

My point is that if njab complains about me being able to farm cause I'm now 2 ranks lower, so how come didn't he think of the same problem when Aqollo (r8) stoped using Royal (r10)? As I stated in the next sentence, I simply moved on from that discusion, I am fine with him playing on Aqollo if he prefers to and him doing whatever he wants on it because now we know the full story. I don't consider him a farmer at all. I will simply remove my upgrades and I really hope to have explained this point...

I actually don't remember about a thread of yours asking for the removal of rank limit (not saying you haven't though, in which case I will give you gladly all the credit you want). But I'm not saying my option is the "best", but it's the only plausible way right now... that's why I insist in introducing some of the alternatives above.

btw, if your only complain about my r8 are the upgrades, I will simply remove which ever I need to remove... but that's another topic

That rank 3 player that you dueled has no idea that you're really a rank 10.. maybe he thinks you have the experience of a rank 8. It's the exact same scenario when a player creates an ALT and duels real low rank players. Come on bro! This is very hypocritical of you! You are proposing low ranks (1-5) shouldn't be allowed to duel but you gladly duel them...? WTF lol.. THAT'S IT... REMOVE RAUL FROM SEASON ELO COMPETITION.... Just Teasing you bro...

Maybe we need to think of a better system and wait for admins to implement such features. In the meantime, we should not exploit our current system.

So is it fair for a rank 6 to win the duel competition just cause he hasn't dueled a single strong opponent? Is that what you're implying? In a competition, everyone should be allowed to compete with everyone else to have a far more representative leaderboard.

Wrong. I haven't farmed anything nor I am doing such thig... Would you say a rank 11 like njab dueling a rank 3 is farming? If you think it's farming, then remove us both. If you don't think that's farming, then I shouldn't be removed either.

First of all, that rank 3 is the one you see in the leaderboard. How is dueling a guy in the leaderboard considered farming? If so, njab has also farmed. Thus, remove us both from the competition pls. Btw, he does know I'm rank 10, I told him. And even if I didn't, I personally asked him to duel and he accepted because he wanted a real challenge, not cause I simply joined his duels in beginners room, which I also could have done! Don't dare calling me hypocritical if you don't know the entire story! Btw, I always have rank 5/6 as a rank limit in my duels, so no, I don't duel low ranks! That rank 3 is the only exception and it is because he's in the leaderboard!

You can't call me a farmer. I have always dueled anyone who got in my duel, same as njab, when I was rank 10 and now when I'm rank 8. It's not my fault that any rank 15 joins my duels, is it? And I'm not gonna wait for them to join it, I'll keep playing who ever joins them. If this is farming, then consider everyone a farmer, not just me. That's really hypocritical of you.

Maybe we need to think of a better system and wait for admins to implement such features. In the meantime, we should not exploit our current system.

I like the idea of another league for lower ranks, they lack upgrades and strategies to compete with higher ranks anyway (aside from skill).
