"This game is not really intended for solo play."
Waiting in a lobby for 5 hours isn't an option either.
"Required players to start: 0 1 2 3 4 5 etc"
I think this simple option is very much needed. After creating a game, it would wait at the map screen until all players have joined, and then perform the first pick roll.
When I join a casual game, I would like to be on a somewhat equal footing and have a shot at the first country pick, etc. When I start one myself, I usually pick a country other than the favorites, since I don't want to have that advantage unfairly. Then I just leave it on turn 1 for 10 hours, giving people a chance to join.
This seems like a clunky workaround that most people don't bother with. I see many people on week 4 who took Germany, Turkey, etc. at the start, when no one was there to grab first pick.
Extra: Game will expire after 12/24 hours if required number does not join. Just to reduce clutter.

I understand you completely. Without this we'll never play decent coalition training games and what-not. We seriously need this feature.

I like where you're coming from, but what happens when enough people do join? How will the country choosing happen if not everybody's online?

Could just handle it as a separate turn, that turn decided by the roll.

Bump.
Starting casual games is a mess. I just tried to start a casual CW practice game with some clan members and it didn't work... I tried leaving the game open on hold to allow everyone joining, but they actually need to stay in the game until I start it for this to work. This is really impractical.
The only current work around is for the host to start the game, pick a country & then leave without making a move. This means everyone gets no reinforcements on turn 1.

Why not give games in the causual lobby the ability to start a game normally with 1 player (so the game is counted), and then the picking selection last the equivalent of one turn (12,24,48 hours). The players can join and pick their countries in this cycle. Then the game starts as normal.

I would like to see something like this. Its annoying that the host always gets a 1 turn head start in casual games.

Something that should've been implemented before the game went out of Beta. Support.

Did this ever get implemented? I haven't played a casual game in a while.

No... it hasn't. And I doubt if it will ever be implemented. Still hoping HTML solves some problems like this one.
